Cleating Process better than Welding Process
The cleating process for motor stamping stacking provides good dimensional stability with minimal increase in core loss. Other advantages are Enhanced durability, Cost-effective, Uniform and consistent results. Cleats are typically folded over the ends of the cores and may have an adverse effect on electrical clearance. Cleating notches vary in number, ranging from 2 to 16 per stator depending on the size of the motor.
